How to Reset the Drum on a Brother DR-360
After replacing the drum unit in your Brother printer, you may need to manually reset the drum counter. This allows the printer to recognize that a new drum unit has been installed.
Important: the reset procedure may vary depending on your Brother printer model. Use the method below that corresponds to your type of printer.
Brother HL Printers Without a Digital Display
This procedure applies to several Brother HL series printers without a digital display, including models such as the HL-2140, HL-2150N and HL-2170W.
- Make sure the printer is turned on.
- Open the front cover of the printer.
- Press and hold the Go button for approximately 4 seconds, until all the LEDs light up.
- When all the LEDs are lit, release the Go button.
- Close the front cover.
The drum counter should now be reset.
Brother MFC, DCP or FAX Printers With a Display or Control Panel
For several Brother MFC, DCP and FAX multifunction printers, the drum counter can be reset directly using the printer's control panel.
- Make sure the machine is turned on.
- Open the front cover.
- Press the Clear / Back button.
- When the display shows “Replace Drum?”:
- if your machine has a numeric keypad, press 1 to confirm the reset;
- if your machine does not have a numeric keypad, press the Up Arrow.
- When “Accepted” appears on the display, close the front cover.
The drum unit counter should now be reset.
Does the “Replace Drum” Message Still Appear?
If the message remains displayed after the reset, make sure the drum unit is properly installed and repeat the procedure. Depending on the Brother printer model, a different reset procedure may be required.
Important: resetting the drum counter does not repair a worn or defective drum. The counter should normally be reset when installing a new drum unit.
