Brother LC3017 and LC3019 Print Head Cleaning

Is your Brother printer producing white lines, missing colours or faded prints? Follow this guide to check print quality and clean the print head on printers using LC3017 and LC3019 ink cartridges.

Quick Cleaning Procedure – Brother LC3017 / LC3019

On the printer touchscreen:

INK → IMPROVE PRINT QUALITY → CHECK PRINT QUALITY

Alternative menu path:

SETTINGS → MAINTENANCE → IMPROVE PRINT QUALITY → CHECK PRINT QUALITY

Open the Ink or Settings menu.
Select Improve Print Quality, then Check Print Quality.
Press Start to print the quality check sheet.
Examine the black, cyan, magenta and yellow blocks.
If all lines are complete, select No to finish.
If lines are missing, select Yes.
For each colour, choose the numbered pattern from 1 to 4 that best matches the printed result.
If cleaning is recommended, press Start.
After cleaning, select Yes, then Start to print another quality check sheet.

Expected result: all four colour blocks should contain complete, consistent lines.

Manual Print Head Cleaning

Menu path:

INK → PRINT HEAD CLEANING

Or:

SETTINGS → MAINTENANCE → PRINT HEAD CLEANING

Select Black only, Color only or All.
Choose Normal, Strong or Strongest.
Start with Normal.
Press Start.
Wait for cleaning to finish, then print another quality check sheet.

Use a stronger cleaning level only when necessary.

Important: Print head cleaning consumes ink. Check print quality after each cleaning and avoid repeated cycles when there is no improvement.
