How to Reset the Drum on a Brother DR-350 Printer

After replacing the drum unit in your Brother printer, you will generally need to reset the drum counter. The procedure varies depending on your printer model.

Choose the procedure below that corresponds to your Brother printer.

Option 1: Brother HL Printers Without a Display

This procedure applies to several Brother HL printers without a display, including models such as the HL-2030, HL-2040 and HL-2070N.

  1. Open the front cover while leaving the printer turned on.
  2. Press and hold the Go button.
  3. Release the button when all four LEDs light up.
  4. Close the front cover.

The Drum LED should now be off and the drum counter should be reset.

Option 2: Brother DCP Multifunction Printers

This procedure applies to several Brother DCP models, including the DCP-7010 and DCP-7020.

  1. Open the front cover.
  2. Press the Options button.
  3. The display should show “Replace Drum?”.
  4. Press the Up Arrow (▲) or select Yes to confirm.
  5. When “Accepted” appears on the display, close the front cover.

The drum counter should now be reset.

Option 3: Brother MFC Multifunction Printers

This procedure applies to several Brother MFC models, including the MFC-7220, MFC-7420 and MFC-7820N.

  1. Open the front cover.
  2. Press the Options button.
  3. The display should show “Replace Drum?”.
  4. Press 1 to reset the drum counter.
  5. Once the reset has been confirmed, close the front cover.

The drum counter should now be reset.

Does the “Replace Drum” Message Still Appear?

If the message remains displayed after completing the procedure, make sure the drum unit is properly installed and repeat the reset procedure.

Important: reset procedures may vary depending on the model and generation of your Brother printer. Resetting the drum counter does not repair a worn or defective drum unit. The counter should normally be reset when installing a new drum unit.
